The House of Ball boutique vineyard is situated on the western slopes of the Waipara Valley on a reasonably steep site which faces east to maximise the exposure to the early morning sun.

The 3000 vines, which were planted in 2004, are densely planted on 2 acres. We gained accredited vineyard status with Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand in 2009.

There are six different varieties which include:
Riesling (1092 plants)
Gewurztraminer ( 288 plants)
Chardonnay (288 plants)
Pinot Noir (624 plants)
Pinotage (336 plants)
Tempranillo (288 plants)

These plant numbers mean only small amounts of wine are made and we are able to do all the plant work by hand ourselves. We are very ‘hands-on’ and our wine reflects this dedication.

At harvest time we welcome the help of family and friends and wine and dine them in appreciation.
