The Merger 2024
Gold Medal Amberley A&P 2025
People’s choice Red @ Amberley A&P 2025
The Merger is a blend of Tempranillo, Pinotage and Pinot Noir in equal amounts, again hand harvested, fermented separately with wild yeasts and matured separately in American and French oak producing a smooth, rich, medium bodied wine with complex characters. This blend is unique to us and has previously been well awarded. The wine is good to cellar for 10 years and only 900 bottles were produced. Drink now or cellar. Updated 19/11/25
Serve: Room temperature 12-18DegC
A recent review:
Salut Julian,
Just saw Ben yesterday — and, being the magnificent gentleman he is, he came bearing some of your vinos. The Merger 2024 was the one we opened, and I thought I’d share my thoughts.
Woo — what a wine. Super accomplished. You’ve managed to capture the full beauty of the vintage. The Pinot Noir fruit sings through, wrapped in the depth and body of an extraordinarily elegant Tempranillo. It’s all there — blue-fruited poise, intensity, aromatic lift, and a striking sense of place.
The core brings a gentle density to the Tempranillo fruit while keeping that blue-cherry and raspberry freshness right at the forefront. Vibrant acidity and supple, agile tannins carry the wine beautifully. Aromatic sophistication is remarkable — rose petals, violets, wildflowers, a touch of cardamom, and those faint reminders of curry leaf or a wisp of gunpowder.
Beyond the bright fruit, savoury and earthy tones begin to unfold: hints of gentle evolution, stony minerality, and a fine saline note that speaks clearly of the region’s limestone-rich soils. The texture is silky, the body medium, perfectly balanced between fruit weight and lively precision. It finishes long, pure, and captivating.
You’ve managed to capture your vision — a true storytelling in liquid form. Not often do I encounter such.
